• This is the current NDIS Price Limit (2026 to 2027) for psychology services, effective 1 July 2026. 

• ABP charges the same hourly rate for both privately funded and NDIS (Plan Managed and Self Managed) clients.

Please note this remains well below the Australian Psychological Society (APS) National Schedule of Suggested Fees for 2026 to 2027, under which a standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee is $330.

 

Therapy/counselling services

Therapy appointments are charged as one clinical hour (60 minutes). This generally includes up to 50 minutes of direct client contact, with the remaining time allocated to routine clinical work such as documentation, clinical reasoning, record keeping, and planning for future sessions.

Where direct client contact occupies the full clinical hour or extends beyond it, any additional clinically necessary work completed outside the appointment (e.g., record keeping and planning), will be billed separately according to the time taken.

Medicare rebates

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $101.35 per session for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year under a Mental Health Care Plan. To claim this rebate, you will require the following from a GP:

• a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

• a referral

Some clients may also be eligible for up to five additional psychology sessions under a General Practitioner Care and Coordination Management Plan (GPCCMP). Eligibility is determined by your GP.​

ABP welcomes clients who are Plan Managed or Self Managed.

Assessment services 

The number of assessment sessions and report writing hours varies depending on the assessment being completed and the individual's presentation. As each assessment is tailored to the person's needs, the total cost can vary.

Neurodevelopmental Assessments

• Autism Assessment: from approximately $2,500

• ADHD Assessment: from approximately $2,850

• Combined Autism and ADHD (AuDHD) Assessment: from approximately $3,300

Psychological Assessments

• Cognitive Assessment: from approximately $1,800

• Psychoeducational Assessment: from approximately $2,850

• Dyslexia Assessment (with existing supporting evidence): from approximately $2,000

• Dyslexia Assessment (without existing supporting evidence): from approximately $3,300

Assessment Reports

Assessment reports are comprehensive and individualised, integrating information from interviews, observations, standardised assessments, questionnaires, school information, developmental history, and clinical formulation. The goal of an assessment is not simply to generate scores or determine whether someone meets criteria for a diagnosis. The aim is to develop a thorough understanding of the person, including their strengths, how they learn, think, process information, experience the world, and the supports that will help them thrive. Reports are written to be practical, meaningful, and easy to read and understand. They are designed to help families, schools, and other professionals better understand the individual's profile and provide recommendations that can be applied in everyday life. Where a diagnosis is supported by the available evidence, this will be provided. Where it is not, it will not. The focus is always on developing an accurate understanding of the person and identifying the supports, accommodations, and strategies that will best support their development and wellbeing.
